My name is Megan Salazar, I currently live in Kamsack Sk. Fostering has been the best thing to happen to me in 2020, I’ve always been the kid to bring home a stray or lost pup. I hadn’t really considered fostering until I had no animals at home and a lot of time on my hands because of the pandemic. I knew I probably wasn’t in a position to adopt but some wonderful people mentioned fostering might be just what I was looking for. I sent in my application and picked up my first foster within a week or 2. I had her for around 3 months and grew so attached I didn’t know how I would give her up, but once her new owner came to pick her up and I saw their connection and how happy they looked I knew it was worth the pain I felt in that moment, and I knew I wanted to continue fostering. Thankfully I got my second foster the very same day I said bye to my first, it really helped my heart heal and I haven’t looked back since. 8 fosters, plus 7 that I’ve either transported (to forever homes or vet visits), given temporary housing til another foster came along or in one case an owner was found, or just puppy sat for a day or so and i can’t imagine life any other way! I even managed to be a furever home for my one bunny foster.

Paws and Claws is an incredible organization filled with so many kind hearted beings. Fostering is one of the most rewarding things I have personally ever done I only wish I had started sooner!
